Merry and Bright Holiday Gifts: Diffuser Ornaments

When I am making DIY items, I really like to involve my kids. I am in love with these diffuser ornaments, which are not only functional, but they are great for the kids to help with too! (Just think of all of that extra love going into this gift!) Plus, the ornaments will be a treasured keepsake year after year. It doesn’t get any better than that, folks. Grandmas eat. this. stuff. up.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Air Dry Terra Cotta Clay
Cookie Cutters
Pine, Spruce, or Christmas Spirit essential oils (get them at my pricing here!)
Festive twine or ribbon
Rolling Pin
Straw
Buttons & Superglue (Optional)
Glitter (Optional)
Permanent Marker (Optional)

Directions:

Roll the clay out to 1/4 inch thick. Use your cookie cutters to create shapes. While the clay is still pliable, use a straw to punch out a hole for the ribbon.

Allow to dry for at least 24 hours (I did 48). While they were tacky, I added some light glitter to give it some sparkle too.

Once dry, we superglued buttons to each to give it a more personal touch and I had my daughter write her name on the back with the marker. Then, I finished off  with some coordinating ribbon. If you really want to add a nice touch, you can include 3 in a box with a small 5/8 dram of oil to keep the ornament refreshed all season (just add 1-2 drops of oil to the ornament. I did mine on the back so the glitter doesn’t get sticky).
